Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) engages two sensory systems simultaneously, making it a natural entry point into Sage Space's Multi-Sensory Wellness approach. Through what's heard — engaging the auditory system via headphones or external speakers — the full range of sound frequencies are delivered to the body, where they influence mood, emotional regulation, and autonomic function through well-established auditory-limbic pathways.

Through what's felt — engaging the somatosensory (touch) system via tactile transducers — low-frequency audio signals (typically 30–120 Hz) are converted into mechanical vibration, stimulating mechanoreceptors and engaging the autonomic nervous, lymphatic, and circulatory systems.

Flickering White Light Therapy involves pulsing white light at frequencies corresponding to the brain's five primary electrical states. The primary mechanism is brainwave entrainment — much like binaural beats entrain VAT programming. When the visual system is exposed to rhythmic flickering at a specific frequency (through closed eyelids), the brain's electrical oscillations synchronize to that rhythm — a phenomenon well established in EEG research and routinely observed in clinical environments.

The "13 Ghost Points" (Sun Si-miao Ghost Points) are a specialized set of acupuncture points in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) historically compiled by the physician Sun Si-miao to treat severe mental, emotional, and neurological disorders. [1, 2]

What They Are Used For

  • Psychiatric & Emotional Disturbances: Used in TCM for extreme Shen (spirit) disturbances, manic behavior, severe anxiety, and depression. [1, 2]

  • Complex & Stubborn Conditions: Applied to chronic or difficult-to-treat internal conditions where patients experience a heavy, trapped, or "haunted" feeling of stagnation. [1, 2, 3]

  • Integrative Studies: Modern clinical research has explored combining acupuncture at ghost points with standard pharmaceutical treatments (such as fluoxetine) for conditions like depression. [1, 2]

THE THEORY OF
MULTI-SENSORY WELLNESS

The use of sensory technologies for therapeutic purposes continues to grow, supported by an expanding body of research validating their benefits. Yet within commercial and home environments they're most often used in isolation, despite the fact that the sensory systems they target do not operate that way in the body.

Fortunately, science has begun to address this gap — showing that when different sensory technologies are combined, the evidence points to therapeutic outcomes that are more rapidly achieved, more thorough in their scope, and more stable over time. This is the foundation of Sage Space's Multi-Sensory Wellness approach.
